Tell us about yourself Jenna.

Originally from Ireland I commenced my Journey with Autosports Group 11 years ago in a junior sales role. I instantly realised this industry was for me but more importantly, this Group was the business that I wanted to succeed in. Since that moment I have never looked back, never allowed failure to be an option and have given it my all.

What is the achievement you are most proud of?

My greatest professional achievement is being part of the inaugural Emerging Leadership Development program and being mentored by the Executive Leadership Team at ASG. From this, I was appointed as the first female Dealer Principal at Autosports Group – Leichhardt Volkswagen, which I have worked towards since I started with the Group.

My family is my greatest personal achievement. I am a mother to two beautiful children who have taught me to be vulnerable yet fiercely protective. They challenge me daily and keep me on my toes. At six years old my daughter is continually honing my negotiation skills and working hard, is showing them both that once you put your mind to something you can achieve anything you want.

Who has been your biggest mentor throughout your career?

I look for mentors in every aspect of my life both personally and professionally. I have always tried to not only seek but act on the advice from successful people whom I admire.

The most significant and enduring influence has been my mother who after a successful corporate career has been a profound influence and inspiration in my career.

How have you built confidence and resilience throughout your career?

When I was younger my confidence came from selling, it made me feel successful.

As I have been given new opportunities, new challenges always presented themselves. Even when I’m out of my comfort zone I have always held myself to the highest standard.

I am a firm believer you grow from the mistakes you make along the way as much as the wins that you encounter.

Overcoming challenging situations gives you confidence, drive, and motivation to take on more challenging situations.

Self-reflection is a powerful tool, to grow we must be honest with ourselves.

What are some of the factors that have led to your success in the Automotive Industry?

A combination of determination, tenacity and always striving to improve.

Knowledge is power. I have spent years learning, asking questions, asking to be included in meetings and always putting my hand up to do more. This has enabled me to have the right exposure and knowledge to take on the next opportunity.

What is the most valuable piece of advice you have ever been given?

Never say no to an opportunity. You will always find your way. We are women, that is what we do.  Opportunities are presented organically and usually at the right time in your life.

What advice would you give women new to the industry?

It’s okay to not always agree. Challenge situations. Ask questions. Ask for feedback and be prepared to take that onboard.

Be true to yourself and your own personal values and standards. Embrace your authentic self.

Get comfortable with having uncomfortable conversations. Find your voice.  Work hard and be prepared for the journey ahead.

Do not be scared to ask for help along the way.
