Narelle D'Alberto

“At D’Alberto Motors the 'Marketing and Events' role has enabled me to be involved in television and radio commercial production, social media activation and dealership event representative and host at events. My role at Bellmont and Centaur is quite varied including tasks such as every day running of our main office, accounting duties, HR and payroll, OHS systems, quality system auditing and control, input with sales, marketing, purchasing, scheduling & factory supervision as required."

I was born into the automotive industry! My Dad and his brothers have always been involved, from starting a panel beating shop and service station to owning a V8 Supercar Team along the way! For the past thirty years they have built up a group that is now running rural Holden/Suzuki/Hyundai/Nissan dealerships and a small to medium automotive coatings and composites manufacturing workshop.

I’ve worked in the industry for 16 years full-time, but spent every day after school and most Saturdays helping out at the ‘Workshop’. I really get a kick out of seeing a product of ours out on the road and people getting enjoyment out of something I have had a hand in building. I also enjoy the history of the industry and I have learnt a lot from the people I work with.

I don’t think I really face any distinctive challenges from any other industry or job. Sometimes it can be difficult working in a male dominated industry, but I’ve met so many women along the way that have inspired me that I don’t even see this as a challenge.

D’Alberto Motors Group employ approximately 15 women in our retail dealerships performing not only administrative roles but also working in Car Sales, Finance Sales, After Sales Follow-up, Stock Control, Dealership Management, Warranty Administration, Detailing and Parts Sales. Bellmont/Centaur - Only 4 other women working in our manufacturing business currently – Financial Controller, Sales Manager, Factory Cleaner and a Parts Detailer on the factory floor.

By being part of WinA I’m keen to network with other women and also hear from others that have an interesting and inspiring story.

When it comes to a career in auto I say "Drive on in! It is a fantastic industry with fascinating history and amazing people!"
